I have had a Pro-94 for a few years now, its a dual trunking scanner. Here recently it hasnt been working correctly, and maybe my area is using triple trunking?? How do you find out?

Anyway, here is what i want to do with my scanner, its pretty simple I hope:

I want to follow 2 trunk systems- EDACS Standard and Motorola Type II Smartnet.
One is our City/Police/EMT, the other is our Utility company. Also, can it scan those, and also individual frequencies that aren't in a trunk system? The Sheriff and Fire Depts are on single frequencies... Is it possible at all?

Which scanner would you all recommend? How do i know if my pro94 cant handle it? What about a pro-97?

Here is my area if it can help you out:

As of November Owensboro was still using their old freqs.... haven't heard anything indicating a change yet.... is there something locked-out?

Well, it doesnt sound as clear as it used to(probably normal), but when someone used to stop transmitting, i would hear a quick beep, now i hear a series of beeps. Sometimes it will show a dot or two that someone else is talking but it wont lock on to it, then other times it just starts searching thru them b/c it loses the source channel or something...

I was told they went to triple trunking, but i heard a dual trunk scanner will still work just fine...

I just mainly want to (if possible) listen to 2 trunk systems for Police, OMU and at the same time scan the individual freq's for DCSheriff and other random freq's

First of all, you will have to put the city EDACS trunking system in one bank and the OMU Motorola system in a different one. You might want to also double check and make sure that you have the LCNs for the city EDACS system programmed in the correct order. If the PRO-94 handles control channel only trunking, that will work great for OMU.

As far as if the if the PRO-94 can scan mixed trunked and conventonal channels in the same bank, I'm not really sure. However if it can, you will have to reserve channels 1-8 for the EDACS LCNs in whichever bank you decide to put it in.

As a sidenote, I know of a PRO-92 and a PRO-2067 that are not wanting to trunk track correctly on the city EDACS system. They are also older scanners. The programming on them is correct. However, my PRO-97 and my PRO-162 (which are newer) were humming along just fine. However, I'm at a loss to explain as to why that is.

Anyway, I hope this was of some help and I wish you the best of luck.

Just got back from the boro, and my BC245XLT was working just fine with OPD. So I don't think nothing has changed. It's had the same programming in it since yearly 2000.

It might just be how you have your channels programmed in your PRO. Order of the frequency's matter. Also with my BC, you must select separate banks for each trunk system. No way you could run two different agency's in the same bank. I'm sure your PRO is the same way.
