P25 Digital or Encrypted?

Hi all.
I was wondering if the NSW police use Digital P25 or Encrypted.

Generally speaking yes to both. The majority of the state is UHF P25 and most of that is encrypted.

This thread is from a while ago...

So a digital scanner will not work because of the encryption codes... correct.

If the digital transmissions are also encrypted, you will not be able to hear them. There are no scanners in production that will allow you to listen to encrypted radio traffic....true in the USA and I'm sure in Australia as well.

There's no mechanism to enter the codes/keys for decryption on a scanner, if you happened to know them.
