Hey guys, I had a couple of questions about my new Pro-668.

First off, I am scanning this system: Alabama First Responder Network Trunking System, Varies, Alabama - Scanner Frequencies - The Calhoun County part of it. I am also scanning the Talladega and Sylacauga sites.

I am using the antenna that came with the scanner but also have tried the RS Telescoping antenna: https://www.radioshack.com/products...d-telescoping-whip-antenna?variant=5717063301 They both seem about the same but should one be better?

The problem I am having is picking up some transmissions. Sometimes it will be clear, but others the connection keys up but then I don't hear some transmissions. Other times there is a beeping sound like a busy signal, and I thought it could be encryption but it's the same talk group I can hear dispatch and units on clearly at other times.

I checked and I only have the primary and alternate sites frequencies. So, a total of 8 for the entire system.

My site Data Decode Thresholds: Low: 15, High 95. ** Not sure if this should be changed?

On my Advanced settings, I just read where these should be changed, so if I need to change something here, please let me know.
Search AGC: Enabled
Global AGC Mode: Global
Global AGC: Disabled.
DSP Level Adapt: 52
ADC Gain: +2db
DAC gain: +2db

And on the top of my scanner the bar shows: Play, the T in a box blinking, and a G.

So basically is there anything obvious that I can change with my settings to get a clearer and consistent reception? Sometime's I can hear a certain police dept pretty well for like 30 minutes, but then if there is other traffic it kind of loses all of it and I get silence... So I'm thinking something may be going on there.

Thank you for your time.

A couple thing might help: DSP level Adapt 78, Global AGC Mode off, ADC G 1, DAC G 1, dummy frequencies between sites, or system/sites transfered to 8 individual Trunk System, the last 2 are last ditch tries and take a lot longer, try the first 4 and give those a try for 8+hrs.

chris: What do you mean when you say DAC G 1 or ADC G 1, I thought they are either a positive or negative number.

Also im interested in the dummy freq site , could you explain more

G=Gain +1db,
MODES in RRDB that are E are encrypted you shouldn't hear those, the scanner should mute, if it even downloads them.
Dummy Frquencies are frequencies the scanners probably never pic like 1100mhz or 1130mhz.
The better Radio Shack antenna, is the RS800, by the way a telescopic antenna is probably not your best friend in that frequency range.
Try DAC off too under the site on the right Site Options and you can try a Custom Trunking Table for all sites, also, make sure you have NFM for Site Frequency Option
