Why? Do you have inside info that they aren't developing anything for Phase 2?

No I don't ... but from past experience, Uniden will use any opportunity to sell a new scanner model...

I would be very happy if their current models can do Phase 2 P25 - but I won't hold my breath. :)

Correction: UPMan has been quoted as saying that no current Uniden model will support Phase 2 P25.

Hmm, well, as I happen to be in MS, with an 800 (and other radios) I was just wondering, since we have no TG's ID'd in the DB as TDMA. Guess I will try and see over the weekend.

Cool. We kinda indirectly discussed that already too.

There are no TDMA only TG's on MSWIN. Not all sites have TDMA capabilities yet. If you want to zone in on something specific to test use the MFC and MDWFP talkgroups. They're the only ones with any significant amount of TDMA usage and traffic in general. There are a few others I've witnessed, but they are either encrypted(Wiggins PD) or very little used unknowns.

No. The PSR-500 is not capable of Phase 2 TDMA.

Mike

Thanks for the reply. I received my PSR-800 yesterday from Scanner Master, with the update already installed. I guess I will need to get started learning how to program it. Do you know of any programs/posts that would help me to do that--something like "Programming the 800 for Dummies!"

You might want to correct this statement on the page too.

Some talkgroups on this system are using Phase II TDMA modulation which cannot be monitored by any scanner.

Please visit the RR Wiki Project 25 page for additional information.

There a few (good) videos on YouTube to help you get started.

Just noticed a second Beta version of the upgrade on the GRE America Website just added today. "GRE PSR-800 P25 Phase 2 Public Beta Upgrade 2" GRE PSR-800 P25 Phase 2 Public Beta Upgrade 2 - Powered By Kayako SupportSuite Maybe this fixes the X2 issues?

I just got my GRE PSR 800 a couple of days ago and am trying to learn how to program it to "customize" the scanlists. To down load this version, do I just plug the cable into the scanner and computer and downloand the attachment. Is that all there is to it? Will it change any of the work I have done on the scanlists? Should the radio be on or off when I download. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions. I appreciate it!

Jim, can you please start your own thread with a subject specific to your help request? You'll get better help and won't clutter up an unrelated topic. Thanks.

I got an error 3.01 when i updated to the latest library. I had to format my SD card using EZscan software from a card reader and revert back in order to get my scanner back.

Same thing happened to me,it corrupted my card, glad that I always have 2 backup cards on hand.

I restored the update and it's seems to be working ok again. I wonder if they will do an update to fix that problem?

All other things being equal, PII TDMA audio is still noticeably louder than FDMA audio. Not painfully so, but still quite noticeable.

Ok I officially retract this statement. The "hotter" TDMA audio has become quite annoying. :( Turning on AGC seems to make little to no difference whatsoever either.

Sure hope there is something they can do to even this out some.

Now that I have Phase 2 TDMA and FDMA on the same system I see what you mean. It is annoying.

Can you just install the last 2 beta updates and it cover the Software utility manager 1.5 and Software Manager 1.6 and not need to install them also or would I need to install all of the 4 on the page? Thanks LOVE AND BLESSINGS

New issues with Loudoun County, VA and Beta2

Over the past few weeks (maybe 3) I have noticed the scanner acting like it did with the first beta CPU and DSP update. It will sit on a TG and "stutter". I've also noticed TGs getting mixed up (was hearing patient reports on a sheriff's office TG). Last week I noticed that when it was trying to decode data, a 900MHz freq showed up as the voice channel, which is wrong.

I just backed it down to the first beta release. So far there hasn't been a lot of traffic to tell if it's working better or not.

It is only acting like this on the Loudoun Co., VA X2 TDMA system.

UPDATE: Beta 1 is acting the same way.
UPDATE: Just backed it down to CPU 1.6 and DSP 1.1 and it seems to be acting better now. More traffic, no stuttering or mixed up TGs.

So far today using CUP 1.6 and DSP 1.1 I've had no issues with stuttering or trying to use a wrong voice channel. I've been watching traffic using UniTrunker and it appears to receive either slot without any problem. I have a video of it acting strange that I'll post a link to later.
