Can you just just program the control channels in a 996P2 Scanner without the voice channels and also will it speed it up? I know I have my SDS200 setup that way and was wanting to re program my 996P2.

Yes, but it won't necessarily speed up scanning.

If you observe the display, it only scans the active Control Channels now. Right?

Yes,.you can! It will not speed up the scanning. If you lose the control channel, the scanner can find it again faster if it doesn't need to search through all of the voice frequencies. That can help when dealing with simulcast sites.

at about 80 channels a second, you don't miss much.
and if the control channel changes to a voice channel, you are covered.
it does happen.
