I think you are correct you can't fix the way certain players calculate length when the file is encoded using VBR. Since the software offers a fixed bitrate option (at least I think that is what "High" does), it should solve that issue if it's important to people. I confirmed this morning that DSD+ MP3 recordings also have this quirk.
Since I don't experience the weird pitch @turnpike61 is seeing, I can't know for sure. But if I had to guess, it's due to sample rate mismatch. How does this get caused...possible an interaction between the BT software and a computer's sample rate settings? Google "sample rate mismatch audio encoder" and go down a rabbit hole.
