For me 1602 has some choppy audio so I went back to 0648 which is fantastic. Both versions set up with same settings. This is on a P1 simulcast MOSWIN system in Missouri….
Is the MOSWIN site the new Zone 4 800 MHz site in Springfield (Greene County)?
That site would be one of the very few simulcast sites within the Moswin system.

Most Moswin sites are not simulcast. Most of the 800 MHz sites are simulcast and some of the 700 MHz sites may be simulcast but most 700 MHz sites are not simulcast. Same applies to the VHF Moswin sites. I can't recall any of the VHF sites being simulcast.

0131:1602 is working well, but the audio recordings are still awful. Choppy and sped up at least .5X in odd places. Unless others are experiencing it, I'm going to deep dive and see if it's something to do with my audio driver here. Thanks.

Trying the 1031-1602 version today on the TDMACC sites. Audio sounds good on the line out. Recording to mp3s. Playback is good but there are definite pitch shifts. Can still understand but it is noticeable. Attached is sample from today.

Would you mind trying version 01-31_0648 and see if you still have the issue?

Since you have a newer version up, I'll try 02-02 0123 Todd. Will let you know. May need to let it run a day.

Thanks!

Todd:

Listened live for about 20 minutes, and then listened to recordings. Created recordings in MP3 VBR, MP3 High, and WAV. Original transmissions clear and without artifact. Recordings have varying speed ups, and what appears to be clipping in the recorded audio stream. They are hard to understand, you really need to listen carefully, so they don't make for good casual replay.

I had uninstalled and reinstalled by audio card drivers last night hoping it would help, but it didn't. I wonder if there is some sort of audio queueing going on in the file creation chain somewhere that is creating this effect? It does not appear on PC or speaker output.

Thanks as always for listening and responding to our feedback!

@turnpike61, I intended to completely disable the audio FFT in version 02-02_0123. I forgot to disable the FFT calculations. Version 02-02_0745 has the calculations disabled if you can give that a try. I'm listening to the recordings in mp3 and wav formats here. I don't hear the issue. I will continue to look for other potential causes.

I'm about to install that latest version. When I get it running, I'll make a recording and report back.

Thanks. Just about the time you posted that, I put a new version up. 02-02_0812. This version has a change to the audio archive thread delay and a change to the way the audio files are opened/closed for reads/writes.

I did install _0745. Audio sounds excellent. Recorded portions of 8-10 transmissions on various TGID's and didn't notice anything odd about any of the audio on replay using the VLC app to play the audio without any modification to the file as recorded.

I'll do the same thing with _0812 and see if I notice anything adverse. No worries with the version changes. LOL

Same result with _0812. No audio issue. I got about 2 min of audio using the hold button. After the first 30 sec, there's an officer giving a slow description of a robbery suspect followed by a repeat of the whole thing by the dispatcher. Audio on the recording sounds to me exactly as it did live.
Audio Recording from _0812

Still the same audio speed up and distortion issues with 0202:0812. Not sure what the issue is, but I don't have this issue with other audio on my computer. I will move the P25RX today to another computer and let it run on this version for a while to see what happens.

Thank you. I will keep looking into this. Let me know if you figure anything out.

There appears to be some audio issues again in the latest version as I try to figure out why 2 or 3 are having issues. If you want a version that is known to work well for most, then please stick with version 01-31_0648 for now.

Todd - 0204-19:28 may have done it. An improvement - need to let it run overnight to be sure. Will advise.

Thanks. I will put it up on the web site for further testing.
I let it run overnight. My verdict is that it is much better; cleaner, and once it settles in, the rapid clipped audio disappears. It's not entirely free of speedups, which occur mostly on the start of an exchange, but settle out once the system has started streaming audio to the file. Compounding it is we have dispatchers here who I think previously worked as disclaimer voice-over readers on TV pharmaceutical ads, and are way too fast at the best of times, so the speed-ups are accentuated. I am streaming to an SSD, so I don't think write latency is an issue here for the hardware.

Thanks Todd!

OK, I can report that BTConfig-2022-02-04_1928 is working very well. Hardly any broken audio except when signal strength drops to mid or less on the first green bar. I also experimented with the AGC value at have it at .85 which seems to help with the lower signal strength. Thanks Todd for all your work on this. Very much appreciated.
