PA Turnpike Vehicle Identifiers

Greetings,

I've been listening to the PA Turnpike Police Harrisburg - East feed (PA Turnpike Police Harrisburg-East) and I'm wondering if anyone can explain the different vehicle identifiers used on this feed?

For example:
- Plymouth 100
- King of Prussia 7
- 8650

I'm guessing that these are a mix of maintenance vehicles, state police, safety patrol, towing, etc. But can someone explain which is which? Does a certain range of numbers indicate a certain type of vehicle or entity?

7000 series units are fire and ems contracted for response service on the pike. There is a list available here:

8000 series units are contracted towing services.

PSP units use barracks name and car number. Turnpike stations include:

T1 Highspire HQ
T2 Gibsonia
T3 Somerset
T4 Everett
T5 Newville
T6 Bowmansville
T7 King of Prussia
T8 Pocono
T9 New Stanton

I updated the wiki page linked above to include all the info on the various services. If anybody has updates or corrections to what is on the wiki, feel free to make changes. Any registered user can make edits.

Somewhere along the way, I know I have seen a breakdown of what the unit number for the maintenance units relate to vehicle wise (i.e. plows,etc). I cannot locate that info right now, though. So, the only one I know off hand is that 100 units are the first responder/safety patrol trucks.

Just a point of interest, McCutcheon Enterprises runs HazMat response into Turnpike districts 1 & 2. Radio ID is HazMat 1 when in District 1 and HazMat 2 when in District 2
