It is still on the air and it is still SmartNet II (analog).

The LE Comm, SC Mutual Aid, Air 2 Ground, SC Region channels etc are patched between the P25 and the old Mixed mode systems until the switch over is complete statewide.

This.

On sites still on the "old" mixed mode system (2b02, what's listed in the database currently as Palmetto 800) you will hear Mutual Aid 3 traffic on talkgroup 29136. On the P25 system, you'll hear the same traffic on talkgroup 20013. That's the magic of a technology called SmartX and what allows this gradual conversion from P16 to P25 over a long period of time.

I have already identified some Spartanburg County talkgroups that are being carried on the Laurens site, which cut over to P25 more than a week ago. I guess this means that there are some Spartanburg County radio users (mostly Sheriffs Office) that know to switch to the new P25 zone in their radios when down in the southern tip of the county. This new zone allows them to affiliate with the new P25 sites and use the P25 talkgroups just like they're on the "old" system.

We refer to these as separate (old and new) systems because of the way the RR database is structred and the way our scanners work. But really it's all one big system. That's what makes the situation in Charleston, Beaufort, and possibly Anderson interesting with the County "owning" one site or set of sites, and the state "owning" another site with overlapping coverage. The fact that talkgroup SCMA3 is carried on the Anderson P25 site is a possible indicator that currernt Palmetto 800 site #42 will just disappear, so to speak, and users currently on Palmetto 800 will switch to the existing Anderson P25 site. Much like what appears to have happened in Florence and Sumter Counties.

Thank you for the update. Now to figure out the talkgroups. I'm out of state & out of range of the system, so that makes matters a little more challenging.

SCHP units in Anderson were just now instructed to switch over to the “new system.”

SCHP units in Greenville and Anderson are now being heard on the existing Anderson P25 site 62. Apparently, the Anderson P800 site 42 is not being converted to P25 at this time.

I don't believe the stand-alone IR will be converted. If the SCHP talkgroups are being carried on the simulcast that's probably a good sign the state and county have agreements in place to utilize the simulcast and there won't be a need for stand-alone ASR site.

The Pickens P800 site will be converted to P25 in 15 minutes.
Also, the Anderson P800 site 42 is now silent. RIP...
