Supposed to be soon.... haven't seen any new freqs in ULS nor any changes lately to the existing freqs in ULS. A number of us are keeping a watch on this, if you get any info plz let us know!

Paris/Bourbon Law Enforcement is machine-gunning away this morning.... have heard them analog and NXDN so far today.

What exactly does that mean? All I am hearing as of last night was tones like you used to hear for pagers. My equipment as of right now is simple analog so I'm hearing nothing.

If you listen to NXDN on an analog (or digital) scanner, it makes a digital sound that is refered to as machine gunning. If you punch in 155.250 you can see what it sounds like the next time they talk.

exactly what I thought but refused to simply presume. Are they then still going to use the same freq as always just digital? If so then why all the hub bub in the local paper about "not being able to listen with any type equipment". Is that just propaganda?

Tthe situation with NXDN now, is the same as P-25 was when it started becoming popular. You will have to buy a capable radio and have it programmed.
No currently manufactured scanner will decode NXDN. The only way to monitor it is to buy a Kenwood radio capable of doing NXDN. (NX-200, NX-700 for VHF and NX-300, NX-800 for UHF and having someone program it for receive.
Or you could purchase an ICOM radio capable of IDAS and have it programmed. NXDN and IDAS are interchangeable, when used conventionally.

UNLESS they are Encrypted. If they are Enc. you are out of luck.

What I have heard this morning and trashman's update of the Bourbon County Data Base confirms, NXDN is here.... go to w2sjw.com and click on NXDN down toward the bottom for the way it sounds analog, digital decoded and not decoded.... Short of trashman's suggestion, one of the selling points is that no scanner can monitor it.... thus putting pressure on the scanner makers to get it to us is paramount.
