I spent a couple of hours in a parking lot in Park City this past Saturday. I "found" the following freqs being used. Looks like anouther (longer) trip is in order to try and ID these. There was also a LOT of FRS/GMRS freqs in use. I sat in my car with a PRO-97 in Signal Stalker mode, and a BCD785 in search mode. I forgot a cable so I wasn't able to run Unitrunker (didn't know where radio shack was). I did hear confirmation that UCAN TG 47392 as being SAR, and TG 17824 as DNR Car to Car.

PLEASE NOTE::::::::I made some changes to the list. Added info on several users. ((((((((x=confirmed, ?=needs more input)

Jeeezzzzz, Gary, now I am disappointed! You didn't call me for a visit while in PC !!!

Oh well, sounds like you have fun -- but my radio shack is warmer :)

BTW, if you, or anyone else is interested, I have 5-6 months of 24/x7 Unitrunker files from Site 24, Quarry Mtn. They are now too big to attach to this forum, so just send me a private message and I'll e-mail...

PS: No UCAN changes for Summit Co. noted yet...
PPS: I toured the new, PC Police building, including all the radio stuff, and even went on the roof to look at antennas -- ARES will be putting a VHF/UHF antenna there -- and I found out that their new comms facility allows switching Dispatch between the Summit Co and PC facilities linked thru Lewis Peak and Quarry -- they also have equipment, but no plans yet, for reverse 911.

It was kinda a fluke that I was in PC. I had breakfast with my family in SLC, and had an hour till the store opened, so I went for a drive. I was heading East on I-80 when I saw the sign for Park City, and I figured, Why not? So went and sat in the Rite-Aid parking lot for a couple of hours. My Dad and I are planning on going there tommorrow and walk around dowtown. It has been a couple of Decades since he has been there. I won't be doing much radio tommorrow, instead it will be quality time with my Father. But I do need/want to hit the town again and try to fill in some of the blanks I got. I'll let ya know when.

gldavis - question for you, how is Signal Stalker supposed to work on the PRO-97. I get that you hold the Scan button to put the unit into Signal Stalker mode but then what? I never hear anything. I have all bands selected (0 - 9), I see the display running through the frequencies but I get nothing - not even static when the SQ is turned all the way down. Am I missing a key sequence somewhere? The preset range (Police/Fire, Aircraft, etc.) scans work fine.

Quarry Mtn UniTrunker Files

For all that are interested, I re-loaded the UniTrunker files, all 6, which cover 5-6 months of traffic for Site 24 -- Quarry Mtn. They are zipped into .RAR format, and have the .TXT extension, necessary to upload to R.Ref... Rename, and remove the .TXT before attempting de-compressing.

The Signal Stalker works pretty good for me. It sounds like you have the right idea. I would suggest that you check the squelch setting (I have mine about half way) and try a different antenna. I've found that the right antenna makes a big difference in hearing signals. Also make sure you unlock what you've locked-out earlier. The biggest problem I've had with the PRO-97 is the antenna connector. It likes to "come loose" and break the solder bridge to the RF circuit. I took mine apart, resoldered the connection, and put Lock-Tite on the threads to keep it tight.

Looking out my window I can see the Airport about 6.5 miles away. Using the Signal Stalker mode and hooked to a Mag Mount dual band Ham antenna, I can hear the 460 Mhz freqs used by the Airport personnel. Signal Stalker also gets the North Salt Lake pageout calls from the station about 1.5 miles away. I have also been on 215 near 700 north, and had to lock out the UCAN control cahnnel from Ensign Peak (or the towers near there).

My Pro-95 has the same problem after being soldered twice and needing a third solder it wont stay together. Those pro-9x's didnt get quite the right quality in soldering that it should have I will agree.
