I was looking for some Well designed and Reliable Adapters and I came across one's made by Pasternack they look to be Very Well made of course some of them have a slightly elevated price than the one's I've purchased in the Past..

But to me a well made adapter will transfer the signal in a better manner, which in return will reward in a better Quality of sound from the receiver.. Or at least I'd hope it would be that way

But I wanted post this on the Forum see if any one has used Pasternack adapters or there other products in the Past) Please comment if you have and how you like there reliability..

Here is ( 2 ) Adapters I'm Looking at: And possibly might buy.. the top one is slightly higher in cost of the two..

75 Ohm BNC Male to BNC Female Right Angle Adapter

BNC Male to BNC Female Right Angle Adapter

Thanks bear..

Pasternack makes good stuff, and they've been around for a quite a while.

I've used them occasionally in the past and not had any issues.

However, I'll add.....
There shouldn't be that drastic a difference in the performance of the connectors that it would show up in the performance of your radio. A decent adapter should have minimal loss, as in tenths of a dB, or less. A tenth of a dB wouldn't likely be noticeable on any hobby or amateur grade equipment. If you were working in a lab, then maybe, but I wouldn't spend more for an adapter for a scanner in the hopes it would make a difference. It is important to have good quality connectors, there are some cheap ones out there, but as long as you are not buying the really low end stuff, I'd be really surprised if you could -really- tell the difference. A tenth of a dB isn't going to be noticeable. There are better ways to improve your reception that chasing that small an improvement, but that's just my opinion.

But, if you need adapters, you might as well buy good ones. If the price difference is small, and you have the money, Pasternack is certainly a good company.

BNC connectors are available in both 50 ohm and 75 ohm impedance. The difference is in the internal dimensions that determine the distance between the inner and outer conductors. Of the two links you provided, the first one is 75 ohm and the second one is 50 ohm

If you are dealing with a radio, an antenna, and a feedline that are all designed for 50 ohm impedance, you should use 50 ohm BNCs. Granted, in a receive-only situation, the difference may not be noticeable. However, if the 50 ohm item is less expensive than the 75 ohm item, there's no reason to not buy the 50 ohm item.

The 75 ohm cost about $10.00 more than the 50 ohm It's cost is $23.00 + S&H which is a little steep on that part but ordering it Directly from Pasternack's warehouse is kind a Nice)

I had them send me there Latest Catalog.. It should arrive in a Few Days...

You'll get dizzy looking at their catalog. :D

I like Pasternack as they have almost every connector/adapter you can imagine, just don't like their prices.

Bear, without a doubt this is one of the

few sites that is more tuned to helping one another, (actually, there's no other site even close!).
But as far as PASTERNACK connectors, they are really good to great; but I can't see the price for many of the connectors they sell. Their main customers seem to be companies that do repair, install, etc. Those companies need to be sure that every connection down the line is secure and not prone to failure.

Pasternack sells some top quality stuff, and their prices reflect that. They cater to industries and academia where precision is highly critical, particularly in the microwave frequency range.

But unless your requirements require accurate and repeatable measurement results well into the microwave range, Pasternack is grossly overpriced. If you're making measurements where it's critical that cable and connector mismatches don't occur, then Pasternack is an excellent place to shop.

I've made network analyzer measurements of various adapters, from low end Chinese made junk to gold plated precision connectors rated to 40 GHz. The results were interesting...

For hobby level receive only applications below 1 GHz, even the cheapest connectors will have less than 0.1 db of insertion loss. It's when you go higher in frequency that you start to see problems in the adapters. In other words, if your application is a scanner, you won't be able to tell the difference between a $2 Radio Shack adapter and a $75 adapter from Pasternack.

Save your money, and use it to buy another radio, not a pair of adapters.

Good stuff, but overkill for a scanner. Glad you're happy with them, though.
