I know that there are definitely not enough feed providers in this world, so I understand why things are the way they are.

However, I wish there were a suggestion somewhere in the broadcaster's information that would recommend that if you broadcast a feed not to take on two major agencies into one feed. I understand the temptation as most time spent listening to scanners is dead air, I get it.

I am a new subscriber, I went into the archives to pull the dispatch audio from a call that I had a connection to that Marion County Sheriff's Office was on. A good guy named tmundal supplies a feed that is MCSO and Salem Police, two very large and very busy agencies.

While I was listening to this high speed pursuit that county was on, Salem PD was involved in a cold theft or some minor call. It seems that during all of the 'cool' stuff MCSO was getting into, Salem would break squelch with some minor, mundane radio traffic and overrun it. I guess this is a rant more than anything, but it's a little bothersome, as I would like to pull the audio from exciting things to listen to again. I'm sure some will ask, 'well then why don't you supply the feed for on or the other?', valid point, but I am unable to due to a professional conflict of interest.

My 2 cents.

Anything is better than nothing. I scan several different agencies on my feed, and have several important talkgroups set as priority. Other than having another scanner for a stereo feed or another person to stream the feed, that's all you have.

ibfergus,

I agree 100%. I enjoy listening to agencies that I normaly would not hear. I also like to listen to trains, I host a feed myself. However, you start to miss things when there is too much on the broadcast. When something does happen and there is to much being scanned, you will miss wants important, then whats the point of listening? Many times I will go to the live audio page, pick a state and see what I can listen to. If there is too much, I find something else. Its not enjoyable, at least to me. I understand theat some people may only be able to host a feed with one scanner but I feel hosts need to decide what is better to provide.

I think the majority of the time when a feed is provided by someone other than the agency themselves what is available as a feed is what the person that is providing it wants to listen to. It's almost as if they are allowing the listener into their living room and the scanner just happens to be on in the background.
