Any time I listen, it seems to only be south fire dispatches, but I haven't found anyone, yet, who knows the purpose of the talkgroup.

Could it be related to the Gas works tg, since they use the 800#'s?

This talkgroup carries all Fire and EMS dispatches for both North and South. The only value I can see for this -- no "Engine 34 responding, ...or Medic 9 on location" -- type traffic, just the actual dispatches.

I can tell you the PFD has north and south trunked radio groups as well as a bank of tac channels they can use .
Most dispatch that I’ve heard does come from South Band or Group.
Fire operations are encrypted here on most groups
For whatever reason
South is open and I believe North was open but I don’t think it’s heavily used, the rest of the comms and I believe foreground channels are encrypted.
You’ll see a signal strength but you won’t hear anything on your receiver if it’s enc.
Not sure why fire is enc but most of it is.
Philly has multiple broadcast towers ( simulcast )
Throughout the city so signal is usually good here.

Anyone find out anymore about this new TGID? I’ve been listening to it a little today and heard dispatches only as previously mentioned, but those dispatches are also still broadcasted simultaneously on the north and south fire bands.

I guess the perk as @saber2k5 stated was not hearing the response chatter.

Wonder if they’re eventually trying to move away from dispatching and responding on the same bands.
