i have 2 bcd996p2 scanners, whats the best type for p25 for best signal: p25 standard (digital xt), motorola type II/p25 or p25 one trunk freq (digital xt)

For the 996P2, use the P25 Standard (Digital XT) on the system. That applies to both P2 scanners (the 996P2 as well as he 325P2). While they will not work for any Phase II talkgroups, the P25/XT setting would also be used on the 396XT & 996XT.

The "Motorola Tye II/P25 setting was used on the 396T & 996T scanners, which are also incapable of monitoring Phase II talkgroups.
