Just spent a few days combing over the Air-Evac radio system trying to plot out some of the new Call signs and their locations and frequencies. The AE website has some designators which don't match any FCC licenses. And then there is the Confusion between AIR-EVAC Lifeteam and PHI AIR Medical group. Seems the two are one in the same.

I'm uploading a PDF file I've been working on, Maybe someone else out there can fill in the blanks I have.

An interesting note, 151.5050 and 158.4000 come back as System Wide licenses for Air-Evac.

I did sort of the same thing a year to two ago and started a wiki page for info that is lacking in the database Medevac (TX) - The RadioReference Wiki

151.505 and 158.400 are business/industrial itinerant frequencies. AEL uses these on their temporary license until they can find a permanent frequency. I don't know what the deal is in Sherman. Maybe they were getting interference or they are putting up a new base station or moving one of the others. They probably won't stay on 151.505 very long.

159.990 is not used in Wichita Falls. 159.900 D032 is correct. Lawton, OK is 159.690 D331.
Mineral Well freq is wrong. It should be 462.175.

Good copy Tom ...

I've found 460.6500 AE53 Brownwood, 462.1750 AE55 Mineral Wells and 460.6500 AE63 Abilene are using a leased License from Texas Communications WQIB752, KUR786 and WPDJ499.

I cannot for the life of me find listings for AE47 LaGrange, AE49 Marble Falls and AE50 San Marcos. I've looked through the trunked systems and still are not seeing these listed. However, there are several paging companies in those areas so I'm wondering if they use pagers and the TGRP's on various TRS's just haven't been ID'd yet.

Attached, is what I'm up to. - Thanks for the help Tom!

I cannot for the life of me find listings for ...AE50 San Marcos.

Neither can I. I've searched trust me. They don't use the San Antonio conventional frequency. They don't use any trunking system around here. They don't use the conventional frequency that CTMC uses (the local hospital).

I've never thought about business itinerant frequencies though, if they're being used other places, they might be being used here. I'll check.

You might have to search all the VHF and UHF freqs when they do their radio check at 8:00 every morning.
They might be on freqs licensed to a radio shop or radio shop owner like in Abilene and Mineral Wells or unlicensed freqs like in Glen Rose and West.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought that Air Evac and LifeStar are
one in the same? Because it was AirEvac that bought out LifeStar not to long
ago. I don't believe PHI has anything to do with either one.

At any rate thanks for the PDF file, great work compiling all that info.

Lifestar no longer exists in the DFW area. They were bought by Air Evac Lifeteam several years ago.
There is another Lifestar company in the panhandle.
Don't confuse Air Evac Lifeteam with PHI Air Medical Group Air Evac Services.

If something isn't listed it is because nobody submitted it.

That's cool. I still had entries in my list for Air Evac in Austin using 460.825 PL 162.2 (which I guess got changed to PL 114.8 for use in San Marcos) and 464.025 PL 186.2 in San Antonio. Don't see those listed so are those defunct? Is Airlife only provider in SA area? Anyone confirm Airlife on 159.6375 in New Braunfels? I may be changing thread. I appologize.

I wonder how obsolete that web site is? I may be wrong but I think those locations were all formerly Critical Air before Air Evac Lifeteam bought them.
They no longer have bases in Sweetwater or Wharton. I know they use 151.400 in West, I heard it the other day. Mineral Wells info is correct. I don't know about anything else.

March 2008 seems to be the (last) "modified" date on the website that I posted

I used to have that frequency for AirEvac Austin in my scanner for listening in San Marcos and wouldn't get a peep. When I get nearer to Austin I mostly get some airport chatter from ABIA because I think it is shared with Delta or some airline. I'll listen out some more though. I know CTMC doesn't use 154.950, though I do hear AE on there communicating with med units on the ground. When I was doing rotations through there the ER had only one radio, that was for the EDACS system. I hadn't thought about the helo common freq, I'll listen out there also.

nd5y I've never heard a morning radio check on AirEvac around here...

Myles, AE, Airlife (Baptist Health System), and Starflight (Methodist Health System) all operate in SA. Yes, the New B Airlife repeater is active.

OK, In the FCC Database some of Air-Evac Licenses shows up as Air-Evac/PHI Medical group. Were these acquired by AE? I have no clue. Maybe they were shared or even leased by AE from PHI, Still no Idea.

The Marble Falls, Hondo and San Marcos birds are the 3 key items I wanted to find to complete the list and submit it for Database update.

Then I'll go after PHI

Thanks for the help - Great Thread.

I've been looking at this: http://www.lifeteam.net/ under service area to see where they are then crossing it with FCC info.

NO!
Air Evac EMS (dba Air Evac Lifeteam) is located in West Plains, MO.
All of their FCC licenses are under the name Air Evac Lifeteam. They are not part of PHI.

Air Evac Services and PHI Air Medical Group are located in Phoenix AZ and are subsidiaries of Petrolem Helicopters, Inc.
Their FCC licenses have several names:
AirEvac Inc. C/O PHI Air Medical Group
AIR EVAC SERVICES INC / PHI Air Medical
AIR EVAC SERVICES INC
Airevac Inc C/O PHI Air Medical Group
PHI Air Medical Group
PHI, INC
PETROLEUM HELICOPTERS INC
But they all have the same FRN (FCC registration number)

You can tell the difference by the FRNs and control point locations on the licenses.
