Heard a patient report today on 158.400/D051. No ID from helo and no mention of destination hospital other than "get a patient report to 'Tex San'<?>"

Odd to find them on this Itinerant frequency - my company is licensed to use it statewide and I never expected to hear a medical helo on it.

Air Evac Lifeteam has a temporary itinerant license on 158.400 and 151.505 that they use in various places until they get a permanent frequency licensed. Sometimes they are simplex and other times as a repeater. They have done that 5 or 6 times now around the DFW area.

The database says Air Evac Lifeteam uses 464.025 in San Antonio.
They most likely were using somebody else's UHF repeater and now have their own base on 158.400 until they get a new license. That is what is happening here in Mineral Wells. 464.025 is probably silent now.

Click on the Texas entry for maps and info on all of the medevac units in Texas (FW + RW)

Some of the previous "dba" used by Air Evac LifeTeams in Texas are listed in the atlases to the right - IIRC I saw that in the 2008 atlas - but that is a very large document - maybe 50 MB

Seems that the SW Medevac helos are dispatched from a Comm Center in Mesa Arizona - Congratulations to the Mesa Communications Center! | Facebook - follow the link to the Comm Center's Facebook page.

The deeper I dig into this, the deeper the quicksand gets. :)

PS - http://www.helihub.com/2010/09/13/omniflight-merges-southwest-medevac-into-native-air/ - OmniFlight merged SW Med Evac into Native Air - Oct 2010 - quicksand to the left of me, quicksand to the right of me, everywhere - quicksand
