Why is the broadcastify.com fire feed so lousy? Can hardly make out the audio at times.

The feeds are provided by volunteer scanner enthusiasts who use their own personal radios, computers, electricity, and networks at their own cost.

A feed's "quality" could be affected by many things, such as the quality of the signals on the system itself, simulcast issues, location, scanner, antenna, etc. Sometimes it takes a little time for the feed provider to fine tune the equipment.

You are permitted to listen-in free of charge. You can also purchase your own scanner.

Yes thank you. However I live outside the city of Phila so it would not work.

The primary problem with the Philly feed is simulcast distortion. The feed provider is likely using a consumer scanner. Consumer scanners are terrible with simulcast systems in many locations. Just a fact of life at this point. It is a problem with many feeds. In my opinion, many feeds are becoming useless.

The LSM issues are why I ended up getting a non-affiliate XTS-3000 to monitor Philly. If you want a good clear feed go with Philly Fire Feed. It costs $45 a year but you get what you pay for - virtually no delay and no simulcast issues.

Yes, that is a possibility although it ties you to a computer. Also, he does not carry Montco which leaves a big hole in area coverage.
