Hi All, I'm rarely there but I have my Unication G5 setup for PFD North/Fire dispatch. Can't understand why all other fire traffic is encrypted. Is there any benefit to adding in the Broad St Subway simulcast site or is it redundancy for subway op's?

That site is intended to cover underground. Unless you're listening on the subway, it's not needed.

North and South Fire are routine dispatch channels and are in the clear for interopability purposes. The "fireground" Tac channels are encrypted for privacy.

More likely, encrypted to avoid embarrassing leadership, like what happened in DC - and had to be rolled back.
