Just to further muddy things, I spoke with a good friend who is with PCSD...MDC is what you're hearing.

He says the only 'NBC' they have in their vocabulary is either the TV network or a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical disaster, in which case he's turning his radio off and moving to Wyoming.

I beileve what they are saying is NDC, refering to the dispatch center. The reason I think so, because Pierce County Sheriffis main dispatch center is part of the National Dispatch Centers which are a variety of dispatch centers across the nation. When they end their transmission with NDC they are acknowledging who they are just like Firecom does. That is my opinion, I have to evidence to it, only a possibility I decided to throw in.

they say both MDC and NBC, i can CLEARLY hear the difference.. just dont know why and nobody wants to believe me. I guess i will have to ask MY LOCAL Pierce Co. sheriff for the definition of NBC.

I could not give up on this question til i got the answer first hand from a local Sheriff, Well i got it and
I WAS WRONG, ( man enough to admit it ) .

MDC is Mobile Data Computer. just like everyone was trying to tell me. and their is NO such thing as NBC as i was told by my local Sheriff.
Even though they say MDC it sure does sound like NBC at times.

I WAS WRONG

Glad you got it figured out.
Even with the headphones, I did not hear MDC.
However I can understand after saying it 50 billion times one would tend to get lazy and not articulate the letters fully.

I listen to Tacoma a lot, especially south prim and (I live in the south end) I believe I hear NVC. Off topic, if anyone cares there seems to be 2 women on south prim and they are pleasant to listen to. Some times there is a man that always seems a little drunk and not the clearest voice, One would think that they would hire the clearest voices.
