Has anyone spent any time listening to the Pitt county trunked system? I have it programmed into my 246T, but I don't get much practice on trunked systems since milair rules out here. I'm getting talkgroups like 200-2 and 401-4 on a Motorola system. Is this the way talkgroups show up on a 246? I'm working to decipher some talkgroups. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, on a side note. The Greenville VIPER tower is up with microwave dishes all over it. Not really as tall as I had expected. (maybe it just looks short because of the taller tower nearby.) It can't be too long from completion.

Will be driving through Greenville tomorrow. Will advise further on arrival. If I can find a Wi-Fi hotspot, I can post results immediately!

Yes, Pitt County TRS is Active

I have confirmed that the Pitt TRS is active, I logged approximately 10 TGs on my Pro-2051, and Pro-96. Not much excitement, County Govt, some discussion about BLS transfers (No clue who) but the one interesting one is East Care... EastCare Operations is on this system. I listened to it from about 15 miles south of Greenville to just about US 64.

There were no easy/free hotspots so it had to wait. My sleep can no longer wait tho, I just arrived in NYC <I love 10-75's>.

As always, your mileage may vary....

Howdy Rescue

If you load the system, it will not take too long to find it... Give me a chance and I will hook up the information. :)

Cheers

Pitt County Memorial is a level 1 trauma center for Eastern NC. Eastcare is the transportation service for the hospital. It is a very busy service running both ground ambulances and helicopters. They have recently added a third helicopter, as the other two run nearly constantly. Radio traffic for this service is pretty constant.

Robbyboy,
How do the talkgroups show up on your radio? I'm getting things like 200-12. On the Greenville Utilities EDACS system, I can switch between AFS and decimal, so I get talkgroups like 222 or 233 in decimal. I was looking for a number like a four or five digit talkgroup number like 3886 or something. Is there a setting to change on a 246, or is this the way it's supposed to display for a Motorola system? I purchased a Radio Shack 800 mHz antenna today, and I can now receive this system from my office. Maybe I can work on decoding it now.
Also, Denny's on Memorial Blvd (NC11) near the hospital, and Bear Rock cafe on Greenville Blvd both have wifi. I think they would prefer you eat there...but anyway. Wifi hotspots for Greenville can be found on the net. I was trying to find out if there were any hotspots in Greenville to see if I wanted to get a card for my Dell Axim. There are others: ECU, Panera Bread, etc, but they're not free.

Yes I was at the dedication for the third helio, they are very busy the day of the dedication the director said that in the 12 hours shift prior to the dedication two crews flew 10 missions and thats just the helios, the ground units are on the go just as much if not more. Its a rarity to go to PCMH and see Eastcare's choppers on the ground, usually only if the choppers are grounded due to weather. When that happens then we call in the big dog, Pedro from MCAS Cherry Point. BTW I just applied for a job with Eastcare as a dispatcher!!

These are five digit group numbers. I believe it is a Type 2 Analog system. I didnt have a chance to do much research for the Hotspots... I will post more later!

I think you mean the Delaware System. I didnt have the time to drop the frequencies in the scanner so I used my 2051 in Control Channel mode to monitor. If I used the pro-96 it takes all 500 channels in order to effectively monitor it. I almost got my self Kilt on Hwy 113 in MD. Called 911, was monitoring the Sheriffs Office on the radio and tole the dispatcher I was monitoring, she let the deputy know over the radio "Be advised, complaintant has a scanner and is monitoring, Terminating 10-21 and he will advise further based on what he hears over the channel". They actually caught the idiot that plowed into me... Kias can spin in circles real well

Can someone tell me the EastCare frequencies, like the dispatch frequencies and what their ground trucks use.

Eastcare

I hear them on MED 8 & MED 9 with med 8 being the primary dispatch channel & the pl being 173.8. I'm in Raleigh & using a "ringo ranger" stlye of antenna up about 40 feet get them pretty clear.

The hospital was recently issued a license for base station operations on 123.050 MHz (am - not fm). I'm not sure if this license replaces a previously-held license for the frequency, or is new.

There are several other hospitals in the state maintaining licenses for the channel, which can be used in several ways:

- control of a landing pad / zone at the medical facility
- contact with an aircraft that doesn't have access to the VHF channels used by the facility
- assistance to medical aircraft (flightwatch, arrangement of FBO services) passing through the coverage area of the medical facility
