    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

A friend of mine from our paging days asked for ideas on how to help his buddy's shop losing SMR business to PoC units.
He asked about Hytera since I was dealer about 4 years ago.
I don't have access to the dealer portal so all I know about their Halo service is what I read from sales brochures.

I suspect half of you guys are working for govt or multi shop systems like Bearcom and MCA, are you guys with a smaller business size seeing loss of income?
How are you working to offset that or do you also sell PoC?

I don’t see a solution. $125 HT’s which include airtime for a year, $50 to renew airtime for each year after, no FCC license, no infrastructure, coverage anywhere in the US, what’s not to like? Obviously not for Gov’t/LE use, but for business, POC is the way to go.

I work for a fairly large dealer with shops in multiple states (top 5 in the country by sales volume, usually).

Renting time on wide area radio systems is a thing of the past (zombie tech, body is dead but doesn't know it yet).

Yes, large end users and public safety have deep enough pockets to justify the costs.

We took our multi site LCP system down several years ago.

Yes, we are seeing a decrease in wide area due to PoC, so we started slinging Hytera PoC. I don't care for it, I prefer Global-PTT as they will white label and are cheap (Global-PTT is who provides the back end for Rapid Radios). I use Global-PTT for my family and consulting gig work.

We sell a bunch of WAVE, but it is expensive and limited to Verizon vs most PoC is 3 carrier IoT sims.

But, most of our customers are onsite heavy industrial or public safety or large end users who can pay for their own wide area.
