My son is looking for a simple police scanner. I am looking at the Uniden BC125AT Handheld Scanner as he is only looking to spend about $100. Does anyone know about this product? We live in Forsyth County and I didn't know if this one would work there or not. Thanks for any help!

Unfortunately, a simple police scanner won't work for you anymore. You'll need a very expensive and complicated scanner capable of monitoring digital trunking race-to-waste systems. And buying the scanner is only the beginning.

That bc125at can still be used to monitor some of counties north of you but for how long.... Probably not long.

You won't find any digital P-25 scanners that receive Phase I, which Forsyth county is, for $100.
There have been some for sale here in the RR For Sale forum around $200.
Also, there is no such thing as a simple scanner for monitoring P-25. Stay away from the Pro-96.
RS Pro-106/197, RS Pro-651/652, Uniden 396XT/996XT, HP-1 will work too.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. I purchased a 652 last spring, for $100. It was like new, no bracket, power cord, or adapter tho. Purchased power connector for $3, adapter from Goodwill for .99, and an antenna for $5. So for a total outlay of $109, I ended up with a perfect, like new, 652 :)
