Scanner Programming

Hi looking for someone who can fix a programmed BCD996T scanner that was setup for Horry County Fire Rescue and I don't know what I did but it's completely screwed up and not working. Anyone out there who can help? I know nothing about trunking scanners, my tech experience with scanners ended 25 years ago.

There are members on here that do that. For a faster response, its best if you export your programming, zip it up and post it here.

Here is a file for Horry County P25 Simulcast. Not sure how good the BCD996T will work on simulcast but give it a try.

Use Sentinel or ProScan to import it.

Sentinel does not work on any 996 scanner.
Sentinel comes in 2 versions
1 x36's SDS's
2 Home Patrol 1 and 2

Welcome to the forums! Why not let us know what it is or isn't doing? Expect a degree of simulcast distortion if you're within range of two or more towers on the simulcast. There are multipath mitigation workarounds in the wiki I linked below but they'll work in some cases but not others. Ultimately you'd be much better with an SDS100 or 200 to track systems with simulcast cells

Use Sentinel ...

Sentinel only works for the x36HPs, HomePatrols or SDSx00. OP has a 996T

I don't know why people keep on recommending Sentinel for scanners that it won't support. Sentinel is for the HP series scanners and above. The OP says he has a 996T which Sentinel won't support. ProScan is a great choice, but ARC996 is another package from BuTel

I appreciate the feedback. I have a Mac so from what I’ve seen I need a windows system computer to do anything remote. My friend that programmed it initially did it right from this forum’s files. I get error messages that say “looking for control channel” Display also shows LNK or DAT at times They didn’t show them prior to me trying to “fix” the problem I caused by hitting buttons trying to lockout some birdies.

Buy Proscan and use on several different scanners
Buy Butel and only use on one type of scanner and if you upgrade buy again.

Either you have locked out the control channels or the scanner is not receiving them, or the freqs that are programmed in are not being used at the current time as a control channel. Where are you in Horry County? The towers pretty well cover the whole county so you shouldn't have problems receiving.

is it scrolling 'ID SEARCH' or 'ID SCAN' ?
is it showing 'ATT' on the screen ?
did you move the radio to a new location ?

Press menu
Scroll to Srch/CloCall Opt
Press Eyes
Scroll to Freq Lockouts
Press Eyes
Srcoll to Unlock All
Press Eyes
Press Hold/Resume 3 times it will start scanning again

This should unlock anything that you may have locked.
Check to see if the “ looking for control channel “ message is gone
