all *digital* channels for alamogordo that the police department are encrypted and cannot be monitored by any scanner. try listening to the conventional channels for alamogordo… the county sheriff isn’t encrypted neither are any other towns that i can see…

Encryption is used as needed. Mainly on new side channels. No consumer grade scanner will decode it. There is some clear p25 in use but law enforcement use is encrypted when digital.

It goes back to them gossip groups when some warned keep chasing calls, posting calls in real time it'll come back to bite. It has and eventually the problem will be solved.

Most city services are now using LTE type cellular devices, the couple of stragglers eventually will be using the LTE down road.

Most calls minus when radio is needed are done over the mdt countywide which will include fire in future and robo dispatching.

Sheriff indeed has use of secure, as well as other secure in use as needed. There is no error as these are strapped from user error.

my analog scanner worked well with the local pd and sheriffs. live scanning .. but it doesn't work now due to switching from analog to digital...just would like to know what type/model to get. I can listen on broadcastify but would rather have a unit.

Exactly what are you listening to on Broadcastify in New Mexico, and are you getting the PD on there? I just looked and it said that feed is all analog out of Otero county. Some of the frequencies are P-25E and analog both according to RR and when they're P-25E and not analog, no scanner will get them.

Monitoring:

  • 154.205 - OTERO COUNTY FIRE DISPATCH
  • 154.145 - OTERO COUNTY FIRE TAC 1
  • 154.250 - OTERO COUNTY FIRE TAC 2
  • 154.265 - OTERO COUNTY FIRE TAC 3
  • 155.760 - ALAMOGORDO POLICE DISPATCH
  • 155.240 - OTERO CO S SHERIFF DISPATCH
  • 159.270 - ALAMOGORDO FIRE DISPATCH
  • 154.675 - ALAMOGORDO FIRE GROUND
  • 158.820 - ALAMOGORDO FIRE TAC 1
Note: Some channels can and may be encrypted at times at local departments discretion.
Some dispatches are broadcast on multiple frequencies at same time.

  • 155.385 - AMR DISPATCH DISCONTINUED

yes I am getting alamogordo and OC sheriffs and others on broadcastify. So, is there a scanner that has the P25E capabilityy? I used to get all the broadcasts on my whistler desktop scanner (older than the handheld) and the handheld(WS1010) now nothing. Those were getting everything. In a small town residents need to know what is going on. the OC Sheriff don't even post what is happening online, but the Alamogordo PD does. (Alamogordo Police Department Activity Logs | Alamogordo, NM) The sheriffs don't post anything that is happening. Scarey world with law enforcement complete control.

There are no consumer grade scanners that will receive the P-25E listed departments. Sorry. Your scanner now will hear ( less distance differences) what the broadcastify feed is receiving.

Perhaps the feed is closer or has a better antenna, I can't say for certain why you're not hearing what the feed is broadcasting.

According to the RR database, the Sheriff's department is still in the clear with two dispatches north and south. I notice the feed says it's broadcasting the "south" sheriff dispatch, I wonder if that's the difference?? Since I don't live in the area, best I can do with what information I am able to get from the Broadcastify feed and the RR database.

ok I just dont know why mine isn't getting anything my friend has a ws1025 and he gets dispatch up in the mountain.
Location, location, location. This would explain your above last post and also why the feed might be getting more than you are receiving. He's NOT getting the P25 E station unless he has either a subscriber radio or the appropriate Uniden pager with the encryption key installed however, it's simply not possible on any consumer grade scanner. What are you using for an antenna for your scanner? Also your friend "up in the mountain" likely has elevation on his side, which means a lot. (height is might).
I've got several things I monitor here that are still VHF, and on occasion I have to hook up whatever device I'm using to my outside ham antenna to get everything.
I guess the other option is the scanner you listed if fairly old (which doesn't make it bad) and maybe it's time for some kind of upgrade however you need to know I have a 30 year old Relm scanner that on VHF hi (which is what you're trying to receive) it honestly outdoes them all. No upgrade will get you P-25E however. Just be aware of that.

I will "assume" you have checked and double checked the frequencies against what is in the data base and also the list I sent you of what the online feed is sending.

I listened for about an hour to the feed and there was at least some traffic come across. I obviously was not able to tell who was who in that length of time.

Thanks for answering my questions, I'm not sure if I can be more help being so far away from you and not able to do live air testing in your area. Good luck.

Both scanners have a frequency display. It will show them to you. I'm sure online manuals could be found for both. Honestly "working at one time" doesn't help us. Things can change. You should be able to hit manual and then manually go thru and check the frequencies against the RR database or what I posted above off the feed. The frequencies will be right on the display of the scanner.
