I just received this handheld scanner via Amazon. It worked fine for a day, and now it has a lot of static (not squelch). I have a radio shack desktop scanner and the same freq. there is no static, it's the scanner. 1) Is there a fix for it (changed antennas, not the problem, used batteries, the same, use adapter, same static).

2) nowhere can I find how to program on Group 2 or even get to group 2 it to see if entering the freq there stops the static?

Not enough information. Have no idea what Group 2 is. City, county, and state would help. Frequency would be good too.

Does it receive NOAA? if not try another antenna, if it still doesn't pickup NOAA send it back as defective.

okay lets try "bank 2" It will only let me do bank 2 and don't know how to change it. squelch is off that isn't the static...the static is when transmission is broadcast...when the desktop one is on same freq. no static. The directions aren't very helpful in the owners manual on how to set up NOAA etc. Thanks

no it doesn't get NOAA... most stations are just static and horrible sounding tones... the sheriff's broadcase I get but lot of static in the background...squelch isn't a factor.. changed antenna's same thing,

Sorry, in the manual it says "groups" that's where I got that

not bad radio. it will probably be my next purchase.

you might have just gotten a bad radio and it is hard to try and diagnose over the computer.
it could have been a different kind of interference.
a computer here gives me horrible interference on 345 Mhz, but just the one radio.
it was hard to figure out because it only does it with a blank screen.
could yours have been digital on an analog scanner ?

We're trying to help you out, but we have to ask some questions to help you ... please don't give up. It's not as easy as push a button and everything is magically fixed.

Probably best as you said it can't pickup NOAA, it is either scanner or the antenna, try an antenna, if it still doesn't receive NOAA then something is wrong in the scanner,
