Yes I posted that earlier I just wanted to make sure that was indeed the scanner you had.Radio Shack Pro 405 and ws1010 both same type programming
That's great. The pro 405 should be exactly the same from what I read. You may find this video showing programming of ws1010 helpful:
He's not showing what the actual directions in the manual showed, he is only hitting program once and using the up and down buttons so I wonder if that matters??You may find this video showing programming of ws1010 helpful:

Ok thanks. I don't have that scanner so impossible for me to be of more help other than quoting manuals and such. I'd think though, she should be able to get it going after watching that video. I found some videos for the PRO 405 but, nothing where they showed actual programming which "should" be identical to the 1010 you posted from what I read. The up/down buttons are an alternative method for specifying the channel number to be programmed.
Encryption used as needed. This is the issue many are noticing lately. Activity then silence. It can be done either on said channel by user or moved to another which is strapped for it.That's great! Bad antenna= out of range since the scanner can't pick up what it needs to. I hope your 1010 works also. Thanks for reporting back in. Personally I think it's great to live somewhere you can still get stuff on scanners of that vintage, not nearly that lucky here. As long as the Sheriff doesn't go encrypted now, you're in there.
That being said if she was hearing it on a Broadcastify feed, it's not encrypted. She's only trying to attempt what the feed she mentioned broadcasted. I understand encryption and that was discussed earlier in the thread. Thanks for your input though. Perhaps the OP will find it useful.Encryption used as needed. I have two of those black antennas, stock and they both stopped working...I'm glad I found those other antennas after all this hoopala. Something did change though, one antenna yeah, but two...so something changed. That being said if she was hearing it on a Broadcastify feed, it's not encrypted. no using the up and down arrow before to put on channel 2 as the manual says is fire/police..then pgm and enter freq and then ent. He's not showing what the actual directions in the manual showed, he is only hitting program once and using the up and down buttons so I wonder if that matters??
I do have a question on the keypad. are those sub numbers (1 has 1-20 and 2 has 21-40) do you use those? That being said if she was hearing it on a Broadcastify feed, it's not encrypted. ok but does one actually use them or is it done automatically when inputing freq. The instructions I didn't find where it mentioned that. The number range above the keys (1–20, 21–40, 41-60, etc.) indicates the channels stored in that bank.
To make it easier to identify and select the channels you want to listen to, your scanner divides the channels into 10 banks (1 to 10) with 20 channels each,
for a total of 200 channels. You can use each channel-storage bank to group frequencies, such as those used by the police department, fire department, ambulance services, or aircraft

yes, I have started over LOL... I'm in a small town so not too much here. My friend has medical issues and he doesn't know what he is doing with the scanner. His deceased wife bought the one he has.. I watched mason video...and it appears that it changes banks for each programmed freq. The manual says channel 2 is fire/police so that is where I've stayed...maybe that is why new inputs aren't taking LOLThat's up to you, you dont' have more than 20 channels there available according to the RR database. "if" I were you, I'd follow the "clear channel" instructions in the manual and start all over. That would put the scanner in a state where you're not already fighting what's in there.
You mentioned a friend in the mountains that has one working, is there any way he could help you with this? I understand wanting to do it your self but sometimes in person help is a little easier than trying to follow things written in print. The Video that @RMason posted for the hand held however, I think would work.
Hang in there you'll get it.yes, I have started over LOL... I'm in a small town so not too much here. My friend has medical issues and he doesn't know what he is doing with the scanner.
