at this time looking at the radio system that hanover police is using witch is mototrbo digital there is no scanner that will be able to pick them up at this time but if you get a digital scanner you will be able to get opp witch is on fleetnet i use radio shack pro 106 witch is a good scanner and there is the psr500/600 that is made by gre and i heard that the uniden home patrol is an easy to use scanner

gabbiiee 12 I believe you are the same person I responded to on an Ontario fishing site on the subject & your only going to get the same info I already gave you.
You have a Uniden HomePatrol so your fine for local OPP but forget about the Hanover Police.

For Bass and Trout, I hope.

Otherwise keep your HomePatrol locked on the MNR talkgroup for your area.

You wont be able to hear the police in Hanover or West Grey however should you go fishing as you call it and hopefully like MCuipa said for fish, you might hear yourself get arrested on the OPP talkgroups in your area.

And not that I double check my spelling it would be nice to be able to read a thread where capital I is used and there are Capitals at the beginning of sentences and periods. Even if you are using a crappy cell phone and not a dedicated text pad to send your messages it makes it much more enjoyable to read and surprise, you will get more help from the members here.

If you find this post to be insulting, please dont, I am not trying to offend.

You need to understand a few simple things here... MotoTRBO is still relatively new technology that hasn't (and may not be) incorporated into any scanner as of yet. There are many different formats/standards out there that aren't scannable (AEGIS, ProVoice, NXDN, OpenSky, TRBO etc etc etc). And even if there was a scanner that could do TRBO chances are they are using encryption anyways. With the newer systems like MotoTRBO enabling encryption is a simple as a few clicks of the mouse when programming the radio. No need to buy expensive addon boards and key loaders anymore.

And sure you can listen to Toronto Police on an iPod/iPhone/whatever. That's because they are using an analog system that is due to be replaced. And trust me, THEY are aware that you can listen in too and chances are that will be rectified in their next system.

Well thanks guys for the come back.I am not trying to be a smart *** and yes out here i fish for salmon but i am going ice fishing for perch,i just thought with all you smart people and all this technology out there ,there would be a way to hear the police thats all and i am not that bad of a person so hopefully i dont end up on the scanner laughing out loud. And i am no good with all this and i was looking for an easy answer and of course not to offend any one.As for spelling and typing i am blind in one eye and have a broken neck so i try to do things the easy way and fastest. Well thanks again for all your come backs and have a nice day.God bless

I hope you feel better, I also have a partially broken back and severe disk damage upper and lower as well and without glasses would probably be blind in both eyes, lol.

I wouldnt know how to be able to listen to encrypted agencies, I only use scanners.
