GREENWOOD VILLAGE - A carjacking suspect shot at a Greenwood Village Police Officer Sunday afternoon prompting a reverse 911 call to area residents, according to police.if

Police say the officer was not injured but was checked by paramedics.

According to police, they responded to a domestic situation at a Motel 6 near I-25 and Arapahoe Road Sunday afternoon. The suspect fled on a motorcycle and was spotted by police near Dayton and Crestline.

The suspect then fled by foot and shot an officer before carjacking a silver Acura. According to police, the suspect attempted to drive away with the owner of the car but the owner was able to escape uninjured.

Police officers issued a reverse 911 call to residents urging them to remain in their homes while they secure the situation; this call is still in effect.

9NEWS Reporter Nelson Garcia is at the scene and says the suspect's wife says he recently returned from serving in Iraq. She told police she believes he is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

9NEWS has crews at the scene and will continue to update this story as more information becomes available at 9NEWS.com and 9NEWS at 5 p.m.

I heard Boulder County SO air a BOLO for him saying he may be enroute to Nederland. He is a trained scout sniper for the USMC and recentley came back from deployment in Iraq.

This is very scary. He's a Marine sniper-YIKES!-, not to mention he's been trained to avoid being caught....Lets all hope this ends well.
