I've been trying for over a year and still, no luck. I have the Uniden BCT 15 tripple trunking radio but, would upgrade to Digital if, anyone knows for a fact, this frequency to be digital. I've pretty much lost interest since they are always going to their tac. channel with everything worth listening to. Any help would be appreciated as I am just about ready to get out of the scanner hobby. Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!

I cant say for certain but every time they say "go tac" 155.970 becomes active. The problem is that the signal is digital and encrypted. So a digital scanner like mine (PSR 500) is no use. The NAC is 200. Also they are not licensed to use this frequency as far as I can find. They are licensed to use 158.970 instead. I am about 90% positive it is them but as I just stated it is encrypted digital.

This brings up another point, I thought that encrypted communications have to have their call signs in the clear. The way it currently is there is no way to ID them positively especially if they are using an unlicensed frequency. Every time they say go "tac" 155.970 does become active.

The reason I have not submitted this to the database is because there seems to be no way to positively ID the user.

I looked at some older Police Call books that I have and found that Poplar Bluff was licensed under KAB965 for 155.9700 in 1987 and 1988
They were shown as having 1 base and 60 mobiles.

I'm missing the 1989 book

The 1990 and 1996 books show them licensed under KA93422 as having ZERO base stations, 60 mobiles, and 6 pagers.

I have nothing newer than 1997, so unable to see if there might have been call sign changes from that point forward.

Neither of these calls signs are found in the FCC database.

The nearest co-channel user at the time was Cape Girardeau......

I monitored for awhile this weekend when I was in the area, Heard them switch to Tac several times but i was busy and never really had a chance to look for it, I'm betting it's encrypted though wherever it's at.. Digital or Not.
