I am buying a portable CB radio for both reception and transmission. I decided to post this here in antennas rather than CB because it pertains to only the antenna.

I find it difficult to find anything better than a short rubber duck or short telescopic antennas.

I found some long telescopic antennas such as this:

...but I don't think that will be loaded correctly for TX, am I right?

The best option I can find is this old stock of replacement antennas for those old Realistic portable CB radios:

...but they have no connectors installed. Maybe someone knows the name of those adapters that press fit a BNC into a telescoping ant?

If not, does anyone have any better ideas?

My goal here is to achieve the longest range I can using portable CB equipment.

Correct.

"...but they have no connectors installed. "

There are no connectors installed because these antennas are mounted to a bracket inside the radio case that is fastened to the circuit board.

Is there an antenna on the unit you are purchasing, if so why not use that antenna? What radio brand and model number are you purchasing?

Thanks for the help!

The unit is the Midland 75-785 and it comes with a tiny rubber duck antenna and I've read complaints about it not going very far (like not more than 1/4 mile). I almost purchased a Realistic TRC-216, but I decided I wanted something new and less expensive instead.

Do you think I can install a BNC on the end of those realistic antennas? Or is there another similar loaded high quality antenna?

You could but, I don't know how well it would perform electrically. Also, I owned a pair of the Radio Shack handhelds, those antenna are very long. If you put a connector on the end of one of those antennas and connect it to the Midland radio's BNC connector it would likely, in a sort time, damage the connector on the radio from the stress caused by the weight and leverage of the antenna.

Not recommended.

Prcguy's recommendation is much better than trying to use the Radio Shack antenna. No center load and shorter make for much less stress on the antenna connector on the radio.

The antenna in the video does not look like the antenna Prcguy recommended, the loading coil section is different.
