I'm curious, does anyone in the community here make or know of a "non-slip" radio stand that would work with the Eton Elite Executive model? I've already located one which is just a simple piece of acrylic, but it's nearly $30.00 and looks like it would slide when the buttons are pressed. Maybe one could find a piece rubber to attach to the back where it sits on the desk, but that would add even more to the cost. With the exception of the one shown below on Amazon, most hits come back from the now defunct Universal-Radio site. I'd even go for a custom 3D printed one in black too... if one is available. Thanks.

I mostly use the them for handheld scanners and radios. I bend as needed. I think $9 on Amazon.

If you're gonna use the bookends, go to Walmart instead of going online.

mbott, I like that. I've got some cherry wood leftover from some guitar stands I made for the band last Christmas. It'll be perfect for that.

Simple to assemble for someone who has the correct tools;

The triangular legs on back are 5 7/8" on a side. (2, obviously)
The backplate is 7" x 11 1/2" with a bevel cut on the backside bottom to match the angle created by the triangular legs. (1)
The bottom stand shelf is 1 7/8" x 11 1/2' (1)

Not my design but damn if I can remember the name from the old ICF-2010 FB group. Wish I could.

Originally assembled for my Sony ICF-2010, but gets use with most of my portables.

That is a nice idea, and I'll keep it in mind if what I'm hoping for fails. I'm investigating the possibility of getting a custom 3D stand just for the Eton Elite model. There are quite literally thousands of that radio in the user community and depending on version in either in black or silver. With a 3D printed design, it would be able to accomodate holes in the perfect spots for power, external antenna and external audio jacks.

I've got the tools. Thanks for the measurements. I don't do FB so that part doesn't matter.

I've got CNC router and laser stuff so I can decorate them myself.

I moderate several groups there, one dealing with the Sony ICF-2010 and the other a user group for SDR Console V3.1 to name two. :) I just like to be able to give credit to the guy who was kind enough to cut the pieces for me since I don't have the tools to do so myself.

I checked out my local WalMart, not so super "Super Center" today, they don't carry them. Apparently not enough people read real books to justify carrying them in stock anymore.

Give it a quick spray with vehicle undercoating, radio will never slip again.

[edit - wasn't implying that Vagrants option wasn't good, or that vagrant had that problem]

I came up with a free solution until something better comes along....

Aren't you worried about the whip possibly breaking due to strain? Also, you lose the option of extending it.

My Sangean 909X has a tilt-out stand, but it isn't enough of a tilt, so I prop it up by resting the stand on a block of rubber roughly 1 inch thick. I can't remember where I got the block of rubber, possibly from part of an automotive suspension.

Also, to keep the front edge of the radio from slipping on the desktop, I put the radio with the rubber block on a small sheet of that non-slip rubber that's used for things like shelf liners, etc. It really grabs the surface, and can be found not only in Walmart, but in most big-box stores. Our local grocery store has rolls of it in all different sizes, colors and thicknesses. I use that under my Icom R75, as well, but that radio has rubber feet and is much heavier, so I can practically move the table around by pushing on the radio.
