We are patched at level where there are no known vulnerabilities. The attack vector was most likely a different piece of software that we run some of our trouble ticketing activities with.

We have no plans on upgrading to 4.x or 5.x
THAN GOODNESS!!!!! (VB4+ is trash and a disgrace to vbulletin (Im glad my feedback on that has been heard over the years I have been here))

Its unfortunate you couldnt get the site fixed w/o experiencing some downtime buddy, when i came here and fiund the site down I did some looking and ANOTHER SITE (Also VBB) was affected but that admin didnt have to take his site down.. (He had time to look at it w/o taking it down)

IM JUST GLAD THE SITE IS BACK AND IM SORRY YOU HAD ISSUES Lindsay!!

Was this why the site kept 503ing on me when I tried to access it last night? Seems to be working fine for me now; thanks, guys.

"As far as tracking down hackers regrettably its all but useless. What they will do is use many infected personal computers, proxy sites to hack a site. That way it is very difficult to trace it back the originator. Most hacks come from Russia or China."

Those are vandals or criminals, not hackers. Spreading viruses or hijacking computers or Web sites has absolutely nothing to do with exploration or gaining knowledge.

And yes, these days it is all but useless to "track hackers down", as we have strong knowledge and understanding of security vulnerabilities and surveillance and know to protect ourselves from them! This is something your garden-variety prepubescent "hey look what i just did i just cracked this site lololololololol!!11!" script-kiddie-with-modem lacks.

I was checking the RadioReference Facebook page for some kind of quick note about what was going on, but that doesn't seem to get updated anymore :\

+1
I too, checked the RR FB page and was disappointed to see that the last 'update' was on Sept. 17th. It'd be nice(and in certain cases, reassuring) to be "in the loop" so to speak whenever something like this happens again. I can only take so many 503's and attempted google re-directs before I go crazy!( ha ha)

On a side topic, does Radioreference have anything to do with Amazon??

If I turn on my IP blocker, I get hundred of hits from a Amazon EC2 cloud.

Forums runs ok on my end, and my computer came back clean (third cleaning today). One more time tonight and I'll call it good.

Guys,

It takes awhile to get delisted by Google and others once you're blacklisted. Even though the virus has been cleaned up, it will take awhile before everything settles down in the land of the internet. Ignore the warnings for now.

I have a link to RR on my blog, when I was trying to access my blog the other day I was getting the warning you were all seeing. This threw me a bit until I worked out what was going on :)

Many thanks to the admins for cleaning this up :)

I got 4 warnings this morning the 4 times I went into RR from my Norton saying it caught a high risk virus trying to access my machine. First time I ever had trouble from this site ever. I hope this mess gets handled.
