Hi
I’m posting this for a gentleman that needed a little bit of help on a Facebook group. If someone can help me by typing out what to do or sending me screenshots of the scanner on how to do it and giving me a step-by-step or sending me videos that would be great so I can try to send this to him..

This is what he is trying to do….

programming BDN160DN with the codes for local fire & police you can't just hit the scan button.
The part of New York that he’s looking for help is. Rochester New York, Monroe county

Yes original poster, absolutely looks like Monroe County police, fire and EMS is on a p25 Phase 2 system as mentioned above

Your friends radio is incapable of receiving this system. If you use the link from the database provided, you might be able to cherry pick some conventional frequencies that could possibly still be in use by some municipalities but it looks like everything is on the p25 system.

Unfortunately he has the wrong tool for the job.

The only major conventional frequencies remaining are County Fire and EMS dispatch but all Fire and EMS operations are on the P25 system. Rochester Fire operations are on 2 VHF conventional channels but their dispatch is only on the P25 trunked system. Patches to Rochester PD Admin Talk Groups remain on UHF conventional but due to be shut off soon.

He should consider an App such as Broadcastify Calls rather than investing in a $600+ P25 Simulcast capable scanner.

Basically all Rochester & Monroe County Law Enforcement operates only on the P25 Trunked. County Fire and EMS operations are also all P25 Trunked but dispatch is also patched to VHF conventional. Rochester FD is dispatched only on the P25 system but their Fireground operations are VHF simplex patched to the P25 system. Since the VHF can only be heard in the vicinity of the incident it is really necessary to listen on the Trunked system to hear everything.

The only conventional activity is Public Works. Any Town Fire listings are "Fire Talk" and used for events and administrative, not Fire operations.

The only thing heard on the County Fire and EMS is the initial dispatch. Response and operations are on the P25 system.
