Well that's a huge bummer. The other system was the better one. So of course they threw everyone over to this one.
I never liked the new one. Seems easier to use plain language and identify what you are: engine, rescue, tower, etc.

The new one isn't the worst thing in the world but the other one was much better. We dealt with similar here. I still use the old systems. With that just by hearing the number you know what town and apparatus/officer it was. Now everyone has a Chief 1, Engine 1, Ladder 1,Tanker 1, Rescue 1, Ambulance 1 (A). Makes zero sense to downgrade like that when something else still works better. But... This is Pa.

Mutual Aid freqs.

So, I'm assuming Schuylkill Co has no Vtac/Utac/800tac channels to patch outside co's coming in to assist like Berks Co does? That could be a disaster waiting to happen going into a burning building. I hope the incoming co's get someone from the Co to at least relay comms.

Numbering system: all companies were to switch to the district numbering system by July 1st. Most have complied, some reluctantly as the old system seemed to be fine. The system works as follows. The first number is district then the second number designates vehicles. For example 66-10. 66 is Tower City Borough. The 10 designates engine. The second numbers are as follows: 10-19 designate engines, 20-29 designate ladders/trucks, 30-39 designate tankers, 40-49 designate brush units, 50-59 designate rescues, 60-69 designate squads, 70-79 designate utilities, 80-89 designate fire police, and 90-99 designate line officers.

Mutual aid: the Schuylkill radios have some Berks VTAC channels programmed but other than that i am unsure of.
