    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Since I cant seem to find a service manual on the BK M150 mobile, thought I would ask what the part number would be on the flat style protection diodes mounted near the 12 vdc cable. They are both cracked and burnt so they are the obvious culprits for the short.

Also, if there is a manual that can be found, that would be great. Not seeking software.

Before you go too far I'd try to figure out what caused the short originally.

Already know, high voltage spike caused by jump starting heavy equipment truck to heavy equipment truck without removing the power fuse.

The protection diodes usually blow due to reversing the +/- leads. Most protection diodes are simply a high current diode cross the DC entry point to protect from reversed power and in rare cases there is a Zener diode that will conduct if the DC voltage exceeds 15-16V. Without a Zener you can apply 100VDC to the radio and it will blow up but not harm the reverse protection diodes. So spikes from jump starting are usually never caught by any diode and it’s more likely someone connected the jumper battery backwards which can blow the reverse protection diode(s).
