The one queer thing is that it will still go into firmware upload mode using the original wall wart.
So the wall wart powers the scanner to do the update but otherwise nothing? Or does it just not charge the batteries? If it's not charging, is the switch in the battery compartment set properly?

The only thing it will do is go into update mode. Switch is in correct position. It will not run the scannner OR charge the batteries. Something is fried in the scanner.

It makes no sense that it powers the scanner for updates but not normally. The power jack is the power jack... :confused:

It draws a lot more power to actually scan and the like vs just update mode. That is why with a higher voltage power supply I was seeing it go through the bootup screens and then blink off when it actually tried to scan. I saw that a couple of times with the original and now all it does is just flicker the first boot screen for a milisecond and then POOF, nothing.
