Ok was watching a youtube video on splitters and amps and basically learned nothing until the very end. The video was showing why you need to use a power inserter to block any rf coming in from the wall wart. So the inserter is a blocker for rf to the amp. My amp/power supply are not that far apart. I was using a short rg-6 run from wart to amp. I installed inserter and so far no difference noted. Just wondering if any others had different results?

Sorry forgot to describe my setup. DPD LP via Belden 9913 to par fm to par vhf162 feeding EDA 2800 8 way drop amp to 8 scanners.

A power inserter puts power in the coax to a device upstream like an active antenna or amplifier and blocks that power in the other direction towards the receiver where it might damage something. A power inserter does not block RF between the RF connectors but you could say it blocks RF to the power supply path.

The components in the power inserter make the power insertion point look like a very high impedance to the RF side, so the power supply side does not load down or affect the RF path.
