So im not sure if this has been talked about, but i could not find any info about this, im wondering if there is a way or reason why everytime i power off the 436HP, i have to RE-locate my channel i had previously locked onto, example being monitoring Fire for the day, power off and turn back on and it starts scanning through all the available Freq's in the HP, is there a fix or something i can do about this as it is VERY annoying trying to run through all the freqs again just to re-lock my channels

Really? it wont save my previous scan? that is a huge flaw IMO, if i want a diff channel i should be able to do so when I WANT, not when i power the damn thing off :/

I don't know of any now, or any in the past that did that.

If it's something you do repeatedly, make a single channel favorite.

check the location settings. It you manually hold on a channel, the radio will hold. When the unit is power cycled, it reloads the favorite list, if location is turned on for a favorite list, and the location (either set in the scanner, or determined by GPS) is outside of the parameters for that channel's location, the radio will begin scanning channels allowed by the location parameters.

Best way to test this is to edit the favorite list and turn location settings off.

The other cause of this can be a bad SD card. Often when they are failing, they will read but not write. In order for the channel hold to remain on startup, it needs to successfully write. It is easy enough to see if the card is not able to be written to. either add a channel in the scanner manually and power cycle it, see if it is still there. Or mount the card on a PC, copy a file to the card, unmount, remount and see if the file is still on the card.

Short of the old Bearcat IV I can't think of a scanner I've ever owned that would do that. It did used to be easier to simulate that behavior by locking out all channels in a bank except one or buy only programming a single channel in a given bank and only enabling that bank. The old PRI feature (where we all used to put the weather frequency) was similar in function to this.

The x36 series will power-up on the channel that was held on power-down provided three things:

1. It is in the scanner's memory (Main dB or a FL)

2. You allow the scanner to power-down properly (writing the settings), and

3. You do not have a corrupted SD card.

Also, you may need to be running a current version of firmware.
