Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We have a two Kenwood radios in our ambulances. UHF radio NX8180H and VHF 7180. I program both using KPG111D. After the ambulance is turned off the power is cut off after five minutes and the radios turn off. I recently changed the PL tone on one channel on the UHF radio, but now that radio does not shut off like the VHF one.
I have downloaded config from another ambulance where both radios shut off properly. It worked properly before I changed one radio channel. I'm thinking it has something to do in the "options 1" area about powering down, but the setting appear to be the same, yet the one radio does not power done.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can attach a screenshot of power down options if needed.

If you are using KPG-111 then the models are NX700 and NX800. Regardless, looks like you are using ignition sense to switch the radios on/off. In optional features 1 page 1 make sure ignition sense is checked and the timer set for 0,0 for instant shut off (and yes check for 12 volts switched to the yellow ignition lead).

More details on what is different please. are you running ignition sense (yellow wire on back of radio)? if so what is the time set on that in the programing? next is the radio staying on or turning off right away? another option is read the other radio (if possible) and compare the power setting.

Hmm. Well that brings up another issue. The UHF radio if definitely TK8180H. Should I be using the KPG89D software which I also have?
I have been using the KPG111D without any problems until now.

Something is not right here, the below screen shot is what you will get when you try to read a TKx180 using KPG-111D, also the Timed Power Off goes in increments of 10 minutes in both KPG-89 and KPG-111 so the timer is on board the ambulance in the control module (that is the way I have seen most ambulances setup). I don't want to assume anything without seeing the data file or a screenshot of Optional Features 1, Common Page 1. Please do post screen shots of both the radio that stays on and the one that shuts down.

Yeah, you've got some confusion going on. KPG-111 will not program a TKx180.
TK-x180's use KPG-89
NX-x00/X10/x01 use KPG-111

The radios look similar, but the NX series and the TK series absolutely use different software. Is it possible someone swapped out radios and didn't tell you?
