• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am in Tab E, Program from Existing Profile. Pager is on and USB cable is plugged in (and connected because the pager starts charging.) But, my pager does not appear in the Programming Pager line. This started happening a few weeks ago. It was never a problem before that time. Anybody else ever have this problem and know what is causing it? Thanks.
(PPS is version V0.3.14.15.)

Note: This is happening with both my G4 and G5.

I have had USB port go dumb on a desktop. Reboot fixed it.
Also try a different micro usb cable.
Also try to reboot your computer.
When you plug in your pager do you hear your computer make noises as its connecting to the device and setting up the drivers to make the proper connection? Charging indicates no data connection. When i hook mine up to my PC i get PC Connected on the screen.

That's a good point. Make sure you are using the USB cable that came with the G4/G5. Some mini USB connector cables are meant to only charge a device. The Unication cables have all of the proper connections for the data RX/TX comm lines.

...Charging indicates no data connection...

Thank you. That sent me in the correct direction. I have too many cables in my life. I was plugging in the USB cable from the AC adapter, not my computer. My second dumb mistake today!

Thanks to everybody for sending suggestions.

Glad you were able to figure it out.
I learned that many years ago when phones started to take higher current charges and cable makers started to make cables for charging only aka no data, to handle higher current through put.
While its not happened to me on my G4 i have used the wrong cable on phones a few years back. So now anytime i have a failure with a device swapping usb ports and cables are my first go to, to fix the issues.
