16dB is a lot of gain... don't forget it will amplify everything, including things you may not want to hear or increase on your scanners, e.g. FM and TV broadcast interference, paging transmitter interference, etc. If you are in a very rural area very distant from common sources of interference... and what you want to receive with a very highly selective scanning receiver (is there such a thing?) is a very weak signal that has no interference.... then this MIGHT work. But be prepared to take it out again and try something with less gain... or have to insert filters to weed out the interference.

I'm using an ordinary tv preamp, with my ST2 and it works just fine for me. My antenna is 150' from the house, and using rg6 tv cable. Luckily I don't have any nearby paging systems or other noticeable interference so I'm pleased with it. Only use it for vhf in the 155mhz range, and the aircraft am band, most of the time I can pick up the RCAG traffic from 20mi or so away, without the amp it was very rarely heard.
The amp I got from Antennacraft, less than 50bucks, the one with the adjustable gain control (mine's turned most of the way DOWN) . Like pop says it depends on what you want to pick up, and the local rf noise in your area, but it's not super-expensive to try. There's more expensive amps out there, of course, that might work better.

I also have a ST2 antenna that I mounted next to my TV antenna. I have a Radio Shack TV signal Amplifier Cat Number: 1500259 very similar to this one: Radioshack - Products

My main question is using this with 50ft RG6 coax and then feeding this into a 3 way splitter for my 3 radios will it hurt them? What I mean is will it de-tune them and mess up the receivers overloading them. I am not wanting to mess up the receivers up or de-tune them in the long run. Any suggestions or comments? My radios are 1 Pro197 & 2 BC895XLT.
