ARC500 is very fast and easy to use. You can do editing in Excel and then paste to ARC500.

I can see that from the demo. I'm just waiting for confirmation from them that it's compatible with my operating system. They show Windows Vista but I use Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

When I look at the ARC500 page on the Butel site, I see this listed in the features section:

Compatible with Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 ( all 32 and 64 bit versions!)

At this link.... ARC500

What do you like to monitor in Volusia Co?

I'm a VCSO volunteer and have done a couple of ride-alongs with deputies in Deltona and Deland. That rekindled my interest in scanning from a couple of decades ago when I lived in Orlando. I got rid of my old Kenwood when I couldn't monitor trucked systems.

It's probably fine. I'm just reluctant to blow forty bucks if I'm not sure.

Not sure where that page is, but this is the current spec page on the Butel website as linked above (and there's no risk for "blowing" forty bucks with a free 30 day trial)...

The talk groups have to be assigned to both a scan list and a system. Also check that you are plugging the cable into the PC/IF jack, not the headphone jack. If data is transferring to the scanner, the percentage transferred should be displayed on the scanner screen. Here is a file that I threw together without being checked yet. Give it a try. Save the zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ARC500 and upload to your scanner.

Thank you for that. It worked perfectly.

Hopefully, looking at that file in ARC500 will give you an idea how to do your own programming. When Volusia Co switches over to P25, there will be only a single system with multiple sites or a simulcast cell covering the entire county. Presently, I set up the EDACS file with 3 systems, each with its own set of 5 scan lists. The 5 scan lists are Volusia Co Fire, Volusia Co EMS, Volusia Co Sheriff, Daytona Beach Fire, and Daytona Beach PD. Scan lists 1-5 are assigned to the County West site. Scan lists 6-10 are assigned to the County East site. Scan lists 11-15 are assigned to the Daytona Beach site. If you go to ScanLists Preview, you will be able to see the 3 sets of 5 scan lists. If you go to Global Settings and ScanLists, you will see which scan lists are enabled when you turn on the scanner. That same screen is used to name or edit the names of the scan lists. I would keep the original file and make a copy of it for editing purposes. Feel free to experiment. You will have the original file to fall back on if everything blows up. If you have any questions about programming, please let me know.

Thank you. The file you created is far more useful than written instructions would be in terms of helping me understand the process. I'm computer-literate, but this is my first venture into scanner programming.

Glad it helped. There is a difference between being computer literate and scanner literate. I have been doing this all of my life, but I still learn something new every day. You will be surprised how easy it becomes once you understand what you are doing. If you need any help with the scanner or programming, I am here to assist you.
