I was doing my weekly internet search for information on the under-construction Broome County P25 Public Safety System when this PDF of a Powerpoint Presentation designed to educate the FD and EMS volunteers of Jefferson County on their new system came up. I decided to post it in a separate thread rather than the CNYICC thread because I think many members who are hobbyists and not users of trunked systems (like myself) might find the information very interesting and provide a better understanding of trunked system communications. Much of the information is generic and applicable to systems throughout the state and country. It also makes one realize the education that must be provided to users whose radios have been simplex low band units not all that different from the walkie talkies many of them probably played with as children. Kind of like transitioning from an old dial phone to an iphone except that your life and the life of others may depend on your ability to properly use the new radios.
