I have been listening to this for several years, but have never heard these two talk groups. I thought the system frequencies were changed back then. I am confirming that I heard radio these talk groups on the ones listed in the RR FB. I know how to find the system frequencies on my dead PSR 500, easy. But, I don't know how to do this on my 436.

I don't know if hearing these might shed some more light on this. Based on what you or others hear, maybe they can help out. I am doing my best to figure this out. Again, when I ran "Discovery" on my 436HP, no transmissions were recorded. This was the most active I've ever heard all these years.

Okay, here you go. I was the project rep on the 6419 install. It was a P25 system from the get go. I retired in 2010. Late 2011 early 2012 my replacement was the project rep on the install of the current system. So this should be the year if they stick to the schedule.

The Motorola System Engineers who programmed the systems used standard set up templates. All the systems left Schaumburg with common programming. After the system check out and hand over by the Motorola team the facility Comm Tech was free to make changes as directed by the chain of command. My command team had been so used to the channel A/B the big rotary knob on top of the XTS3000 confused them so they had me set up a revised template so they only had to switch between 1-6 to conduct their operations. When he came back to do the six month optimization the system engineer was not impressed. If I remember correctly he "I spent a lot of time and effort to set up the system so you could do this to it." I offered to call the Lt. who ordered the changes up to the radio shack. He didn't take me up on it.

The Jargon changes from facility to facility based on the peculiarities of the institution.

Again I retired in 2010. Somethings may have changed but I'm betting not.

Likewise @rattlerbb01 for FCI Bryan?
Yes, FPC Bryan still uses the P25 system. It is active every time I pass through there. There are roughly 15 talkgroups that get air time but I’ve only verified the three listed as to what they are. The rest are sporadic and generally small talk or supervisory.

I will dedicate my future monitoring to this system. I am also working on an unknown talk group on GATRRS near Big Spring, will be posted elsewhere.

Did you know or work on this system when Warden John Allman was there? I don't remember when he left, before he later died.

Here is the talk group that sounded like "shooter patrol shooter." I am reviewing some of these transmissions. I don't have a visual of the display during the recording. I made the mistake of breaking down the audio file, removing the FCI transmissions, and shooting them back into a radio, WAV. Woops, that did not work. I forgot how to this. I removed them from the SD card.

But, here is the talk group, 2, specific to what I heard, "shooters & I believe "sharpshooter."

I made a You Tube of the transmissions. My ears have been ringing like Christmas Bells since I heard Motorhead in Austin, large sound board used!

I have never heard talk group 2 and I don't know if other FCI facilities, like Bastrop, have similar talk groups.

Sorry, I am having trouble hearing this:

I would like some clarification if I need to ask for this to be moved to another thread about FCI in Texas for instance. I don't know how this is initiated, by moderator or what. In my opinion, this is sort of like comparative analysis, FCI in Big Spring and Bastrop.

What you are hearing that you thought was "shooter" is actually "SHU door" SHU (pronounced shoe) is Special Housing Unit the lock up inside the facility for those who have gotten in trouble.

Like TDCJ Punitive Segregation I suppose. I know the FCI units have a form of Administrative Segregation. Thanks for helping me decipher this. I love hearing the comparisons between the systems. Did they use the term, "Sally Port?" Or did they have another name for that as well?

Did it sound like they were having a "disturbance or a normal day of correctional chaos? Again, when I return to the Spring city, I will park the radio on this system and do Discovery. Also, I am going to load this as a separate Favorite from the rest of Howard County.

Final question: If you were submitting this talk group to the system, which was talk group 2, what would you categorize this. I would think this would be a talk channel.

Thank you so very much. Onward to my next discovery on GATRRS, not on this thread, LOL.

They do use Sally Port, and SHU houses both disciplinary (punitive) seg and administrative (protective custody) seg inmates in the same unit, but different cells obviously.

What would you recommend as an alpha tag for talk group 2, the one involving SHU? I don't know what to call the talk group with what appears to be an "i" in front, the 1st pic listed above? I have never noticed this, but I don't believe there are tactical, talk, or other correctional service types. I have never noticed.

I'm not an expert on current Uniden products but that appears to be an iCall or "private" individual radio-to-radio call.
Those are probably radio IDs not talkgroups.
i162 (SRC) is the source radio ID.
i305 (DST) is the destination radio ID.

Miles, Gulch, and Ortiz are the three that come to mind. Allman doesn't sound familiar.

Same unit, different wings.
