Has anyone else noticed various state prisons using XMCALL lately? Does anybody know why they are using a mutual aid talk group when ODRC literally has 500 of their own talk groups to utilize?

I have seen that before in the past for well over a year. Seems to happen often for a time period and then go away. I thought maybe a mistake hitting the wrong channel on a radio. Always seems to be normal traffic that should be on one of the normal prison channels.

Yeah, it’s definitely not accidental. All I can think of is the site they usually use is down and their radios aren’t allowed to roam on that talk group, but that’s not the case.7F61B7D9-AB08-4361-B726-2466F3A15ADD.png

They have been doing that for years. My assumption is it involves transporting prisoners and the vehicles talk to other prisons and police departments using XMCall.
