So my Pro-106 arrived today and I busted it out and MANUALLY PROGRAMMED (No software, don't have a cable yet but I wanted to try it out manually first):

1. I created a new Talk System and called it San Diego RCS. I set it as MOTOROLA 800/900.
2. I programmed the 1 CONTROL CHANNEL and 3 other ALTERNATE CONTROL CHANNELs into the talk system.
3. I added Carlsbad dispatch 1, 2, and Vista Dispatch talk groups by adding in their decimal code one by one. I also labeled each of these with an alpha tag so I could distinguish between the 2. I put both Carlsbad channels in list #1 and the Vista channel in list #2.
4. I set each of these to display a different color LED light.
5. I put the radio in SCAN mode and enabled both lists.

Now, what happens is I get the talkgroups displayed and the different LEDs turn on so I know that the radio is receiving the data but I get NO AUDIO no matter what level the volume is at. The only way I get audio is if I turn the squelch all the way down and then all I hear is noise. The little signal bars are all the way up and there is indeed a "T" (as well as a "G") icon displayed. I've also turned the global attenuator on and off with no luck. In addition, I've ensured that there is NO priority channel selected. Lastly, I've also double-checked my frequencies and they are fine.

So in summary... The radio appears to receive just fine because I can receive other traffic if I just turn it to search mode and I can also see the talkground names and LEDs when it's receiving. The reception is listed as 98%, the speaker works fine because I can hear other traffic... I don't know what this could be. Can someone please help? Thank you!

To all those with the same problem:

Fixed by going back to TSYS settings and setting Multi-Site to "Roam" and Trunking Tables to "Splinter."

There is no reason to have Multi-Site on ROAM if you have only programmed the 4 control channels to one site. For Carlsbad and Vista you must program the North Simulcast site and you should set Multi-Site to OFF.

Most of SD county is well covered by the NORTH, SOUTH and EAST and NORTHEAST simulcast sites.
That being said, Carlsbad and Vista SO are routinely only carried on the north site (and possibly the NE site, I dont listen to that)
In fringe areas and areas with bad reception of the simulcast sites there are all those IntelliRepeater sites that provide coverage to whomever roams into their coverage areas.
You may want to program the system with MultiSite on if you plan on traveling through the rural mountainous areas of the county with your scanner. If you do, you'd want to program ALL the IR control channels as well as the main simulcast sites you will encounter. Otherwise, around town, and especially when you are stationary, you don't need it or want it, as it may prevent you from hearing some traffic that you would have otherwise heard had you not used the multisite feature.
