Hi! Is there any one who can tell me why I'am not able to receive Camden Co. Fire and EMS after Programming the P25. trunking system in? Any help would be GREAT!!
The more I read about agencies switching to systems that can't be monitored, the more upset I get. People buy expensive scanners and they switch to not be heard but yet I read that the secret service doesn't encrypt?!
At present, there are several different systems out of the reach of scanner enthusiasts. Open Sky is one of these systems. As previously stated, there is a scanner that monitors Phase II TDMA, but due to issues with the scanner manufacturer, these radios are currently very expensive.
At one time in the timeline of events, people were saying, "there will never be a digital scanner."
So, who knows what the future may hold. Sometimes, it all comes down to money.
When & if a TDMA scanner comes along, it might have new capabilities regarding proprietary issues. From what I understand, the expense of a digital radio is associated with the purchase of proprietary rights for that radio to operate on different systems.
If people decide to go out & buy a digital scanner without doing research into the matter, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Then again, there are instances when someone buys an expensive digital radio & an agency decides to use a system out of there reach. This is quite unfortunate.
When various municipalities purchase a radio system, generally speaking, there are usually town meetings, city council meetings or commissioner's court that review these purchases. Whether a citizen would have any impact on that process remains unknown.
Finally, I don't know who told you that the Secret Service does not encrypt, but they would be wrong. Yes, there are occasional clear transmission depending on the situation & person being protected at the time. But, for the most part, this is one of the most heavily-encrypted Federal agencies.
Nice avatar!! I understand and figured that they encrypt all the good stuff but what angers me ensnare is when agencies change systems like my job did and many police departments in New Jersey are now doing. Heck I remember when my old stomping ground (meadowlands) wasn't encrypted. During events those three or four frequencies were really jumping!!
