Greetings RR friends, I need a little help or at least some direction on finding the SWEET SPOT on my PRO-106.

I am receiving my local 800 trunked systems extremely well. The default settings on my 106 are perfect for monitoring the local city Police & FD and also for receiving my county Sheriff and FD...

I am attempting to receive the 800 trunked system from the next county over, which begins approx 15 to 20 miles away. The default settings on the 106 bring be very limited results... I have default settings set on the ROAM range, as well as threshold of 75 lower and 95 upper. I also have full bars on the signal meter, so I can confirm that the signal is there. The signal breaks squelch, but is coming in slightly garbled... as if the reception is border-line at best.

Do I need to change the upper and lower ROAM thresholds to allow better receive capabilities... allowing distant signals to be received.
Do I need to alter the NOISE threshold to allow for additional signal to enter (w/ some noise) for increased reception...
Do I need to change any other parameters on the digital side... (it's a digital system I am attempting to recieve)

I am using an 800 yagi, pointed correctly... I am on an outdoor 25 foot mast and can't go any higher, and use LMR-400 cable on a 70 foot run. I bought a GRE super amplifier a week ago, which did not increase my reception on the 800 band. THEREFORE, I believe that the reception might get better thru tweaking some parameters, but in the manner of how I tweaked them, I may have overlooked something, and one correct adjustment and another incorrect adjustment, may have helped in a good and bad way.

I need to know an new DEFAULT setting for a few parameters which would allow my scanner to be less sensitive, to better receive some distant signals even if it allows a bit more noise to enter. I would like to eliminate some of the garbling, and get smooth reception on a less filtered setting. It seems that the factory default settings are perfect ONLY for the closer proximity range of signals, closing out noise and distant signal.

Thanks for any input... I know its trial and error, but tweaking correctly (using some other members experiences in regards to increasing reception on distant signals) might be helpfull here. I wish I could go UP another 10 feet, but I cant afford a new, stronger support mast. I'm already using guy wires on this one.
