Its hard programming them by hand but you learn how to do ith without any help of software. Using the software you can program them within minutes.

I hope you didn't program them each separately by hand because you only need to program 1 and then you can clone it to the others. You can also clone the 106 and 197 to each other.

You can try Arc-500, Win-500, and the PSRedit500 for 30 days then you decide which one you like the most. All members have different views of the programs so just try all three for a month. Congrats for the new radio your getting. You also need the programming cable sold seperately.

Win500 seems to be one of the most popular ones from what I see people say on here.

Try PSREdit or WIN500 for free for 30 days, both are great programs and both have excellent customer support..

I got a 106 yesterday as well. I also got 50% off the cable because I bought it with the scanner (it was a surprise when I got to the register). I've been using PSRedit500 and have been enjoying it. I didn't like the ARC software on first glance, and haven't tried Win-500 yet.

I have a Premium subscription to here when I need it,

and purchased arc500 software to download the freq into my 106. I hadent the slightest clue about digital scanners when i got the 106 but with that software, the right usb cable and subscription to this site , programing was a breeze.

Get the software...

Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197, PSR-310, PSR-410 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control or

Butel Software

then the cable...

RadioShack® USB-PC Interface Cable for GRE Scanner - RadioShack.com

Next become a paid member of RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Start the software... connect to RR and download the file(s) for the area(s) you want...

Download it into the scanner and you're good to go. It doesn't get much easier! :)
